Dr. Jennifer Campbell is a board-certified specialist in emergency and critical care medicine. She originally fell in love with Colorado as an undergraduate at the University of Colorado, earning her degree in environmental, population and organismic biology in 2000. She then spent two years working, skiing and traveling in central Europe, living in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. She returned to the Front Range to earn her veterinary degree from Colorado State University in 2007. After graduation, she completed a one-year veterinary internship, training in all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery at Michigan State University, followed by her specialty residency training in emergency and critical care at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Campbell brings advanced training and experience in the care of critically ill patients including dogs and cats suffering from renal failure, respiratory distress, septic shock, trauma, toxicities, heat stroke and other illnesses. Dr. Campbell’s research interests include nutritional support in critically ill patients, mechanical ventilation strategies in animals with respiratory failure, as well as electrolyte and acid-base disorders.
Dr. Campbell’s extensive training in emergency and critical care has taught her that proactive, engaged pet parent communication is as essential to a positive outcome for her patients as the high quality medicine that she provides. She strives to help caregivers understand the complicated aspects of their pet’s serious illness through candid, compassionate dialogue, while delivering the highest standard of patient care.
Dr. Campbell’s personal interests include sports of all kinds including skiing, snowboarding, soccer, ice hockey and running. Most of her spare time these days is spent enjoying all the Front Range has to offer with her wonderful husband and two sons.
