Critical Care

Having board-certified criticalists on staff is a unique benefit that sets AESC apart from other emergency hospitals. A board-certified criticalist is an experienced emergency veterinarian that has successfully completed additional training and evaluation in the field of critical care, and in doing so is recognized as a diplomate by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. This means that they are regarded as experts in the most critical of emergency situations.

For especially dangerous emergencies like severe trauma, excessive bleeding, heatstroke, surgical complications and more, a board-certified criticalist is the kind of specialist your pet needs for the best chance at recovery.  Any pet can become seriously ill or injured in an instant, even under the most watchful pet parent. Our criticalists are ready to spring into action when your dog or cat bites off a little more than they can chew!

Like in human ICUs, criticalist and emergency doctor care directives are carried out by an experienced team of support technicians led by a certified ICU veterinary technician specialist. Their extensive training allows them to perform advanced procedures like phlebotomy, multilevel monitoring, pain management, and fluid therapy.
