Dr. Hassen was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She earned her DVM from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2015. She went on to complete a small animal rotating internship at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital, and it was then that she fell in love with Colorado. After a three-year residency in anesthesiology at North Carolina State University, she became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia in 2019. She is also certified in acupuncture.
Dr. Hassen has particular interests in locoregional anesthesia and other opioid-sparing pain management techniques. She is extremely passionate about keeping her patients calm and comfortable throughout their hospital stay.
Outside of work, Dr. Hassen enjoys hiking, breweries, gardening, and training her wild Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Hammy and Cheesy.
