A native of Wheeling, West Virginia, Dr. Dalby earned her undergraduate biology degree at Bethany College. She then graduated from North Carolina State, School of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. Leaving North Carolina, she migrated to Purdue University, where she completed a one-year small animal medicine and surgery rotating internship, as well as a residency program in small animal internal medicine. Dr. Dalby became board-certified in internal medicine by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2005. She remained at Purdue for an additional year as a clinical instructor. While at Purdue, Dr. Dalby worked extensively with Dr. Adams, a pioneer in small animal urolith management. Specifically, Dr. Dalby focused on non-invasive urolith management techniques, including laser lithotripsy, shock-wave lithotripsy and cystoscopic urolith retrieval. As a resident, Dr. Dalby was awarded the Katie McCalister Compassionate Care award, an honor bestowed through a vote of both students and faculty.
In 2005, Dr. Dalby and her family moved to Cleveland, Ohio and joined the staff of Great Lakes Veterinary Specialists, a multi-specialty 24-hr referral and emergency hospital. For the past five years, she has developed a close relationship with local veterinarians and their clients. She participated in monthly morning rounds sessions with the referring community, as well as formal lectures in CE forums.
Dr. Dalby has always had a keen interest in biology, physiology and the complexities of how multiple organ systems work together. Her main areas of interest within medicine include renal and lower urinary tract disorders, the gastrointestinal system, endocrine diseases, respiratory disease and critical care.
