Dr. Ken Brand was born and raised in New Jersey. He attended Tufts University for his undergraduate studies and obtained a Bachelor of Science in bio-psychology. Following graduation, he moved from Massachusetts to New York to attend the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University. During his veterinary training, he worked as an assistant at the community practice service as well as researched protein losing enteropathies in Yorkshire terriers. He was inducted into the veterinary honor society, Phi Zeta, during his final year of schooling.

After receiving his DVM in 2015, he completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at BluePearl Georgia Veterinary Specialists. During his internship, he worked on a retrospective study evaluating the outcomes of dogs with a unique external skeletal fixator for common calcaneal tendon ruptures.

Dr. Brand then completed a surgical internship at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists. While working, he designed a study evaluating radiograph positioning and subsidence in dogs with total hip replacements and presented his findings at a national veterinary orthopedic conference.

Following his surgical internship, Dr. Brand completed a three-year small animal surgery residency and Master’s degree at Purdue University. During his residency, he was involved in multiple studies and presented at the national veterinary surgical conference.

Dr. Brand moved to Colorado and joined AESC in 2020. He enjoys both orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, with an interest in arthroscopy and correcting vascular anomalies. Outside of work, he enjoys woodworking, cooking, and watching movies.
